On this sparkling Christmas Eve morning, with frost painted on trees, I’m thinking of the power of Elphaba’s words in “Defying Gravity.” Maybe it’s because I repeatedly listened to it while dancing in my kitchen yesterday and wrapping gifts. Like the first gorgeous frost transforming a drab landscape into something magical, this year has been about discovering my own kind of magic.

“Everyone deserves the chance to fly” – this lyric resonates differently now, sitting here in the quiet of a December dawn. This year, I chose to spread my wings, to embrace the exhilarating feeling of taking that leap toward something that called me. When Elphaba sings “If I’m flying solo, at least I’m flying free,” I feel that – that pure joy of choosing your own path, even when it feels like stepping into thin air.

Sometimes the universe hands us moments of perfect clarity. Mine came wrapped in on of my favorite broadway songs, speaking directly to me about authenticity and courage. The decision to take a career pause and start my own business wasn’t just about change – it was about giving myself permission to fly.

The beauty of Christmas has always been about possibility – that shimmer of magic in the air that makes us believe in things we cannot see. This year, I’m celebrating a different kind of magic: the kind that lives within us, waiting for the moment we’re ready to trust our wings.

As morning frost glitters and the fog starts to lift, I’m grateful for both the gravity that keeps me grounded in what matters and the courage that whispers “fly.” This Christmas, my wish for you is simple: may you find that perfect moment when your heart says “jump,” and may you trust yourself enough to spread your wings.

Sometimes the most precious gifts can’t be wrapped and placed under a tree. Sometimes they come in the form of a choice, a leap, a moment when we finally give ourselves permission to soar.

✨ To flying free, this Christmas and always ✨
